The sun began to rise ever so slowly
Allowing for one more minute of sleep
Boggio makes the rounds in his pick-up truck
Bringing a memory of two others on evening shift
The ballfield, cooker in place, quiet, motionless
Everyone taking advantage of one more minute of sleep
The sun starts to reflect its diamonds
Begging all bums to descend upon its shore
Sun, swim, sail, ski, kayak, canoe
Activity reminiscent of a long ago post card
The sun begins its decent to the west
The gathering begins, like a pebble in the water
Rings of family and friends extending endlessly
In the last ripple, the renewing of past acquaintances
Motioning to others for names long forgotten
Music is the blood of life
Binding the generations together
The alligator tells of the bewitching hour
Children remind us of our age
The moon riding high defines the path past Eliza
The ballpark is quiet
Streets seem deserted
There is sound of quiet chatter
That of those to young and to old to make the journey
No longer able to defy sleep, everyone eventually returns to their bed
The sun begins to rise ever so slowly
Allowing for one more minute of sleep
Boggio makes the rounds in his pick-up truck.
