EAGLE HARBOR TOWNSHIP BOARD
October 8, 2001
CALL TO ORDER AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: The regular meeting of the Eagle Harbor Township Board was called to order at 7:00 p.m. on October 8, 2001 by Supervisor Douglas Sherk, at the Eagle Harbor Township Hall in Eagle Harbor. Supervisor Sherk led the Pledge of Allegiance.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Supervisor Sherk, Clerk Olson, Treasurer Johnson, Trustees Ellis and Lantz
MEMBERS ABSENT: None
AGENDA APPROVAL AND ADDITIONS –The Agenda was approved as presented.

SUPERVISOR’S REMARKS AND CORRESPONDENCE
:COMMITTEE REPORTS
BEACH COMMITTEE – Fred and Colleen Geis – No Report
CEMETERY COMMITTEE – Ginny Schubert – No Report
SEXTON COMMENTS –Mike Braman – Two burials this month. Prisoners will be available to do Fall cleanup.
COMMUNITY BUILDING – Nancy Clarkson – There is one event scheduled for October and then the building can be shut down for the winter.
DISASTER MITIGATION COMMITTEE – Chris Callog – Project will take 2-3 years to finish. Tom Ellis will not be able to work on this committee. Rick Finke will be a member of this committee. Coordinate with 911 and County Committees.
HEBARD PLAT COMMITTEE – Jeane Olson – No Report
LAND USE COMMITTEE – Paul Freshwater – Reported that the returns on the survey were at approximately 33% and they still had more coming in.
Mike Wakeman has written a computer program to compile and sort the data from the surveys. A final report will be presented at the November Board meeting. A letter of thanks will be written to Mike Wakeman for the many vacation hours he spent in producing the program.
911 COMMITTEE - Doug Schubert – There was a meeting September 27, 2001. Completion of addressing should be about this time next year. There are still two roads to be named. The Village of Eagle Harbor will not be in the County wide numbering system, but it will be renumbered with a different set of numbers. The Village will keep the street names and signs that they are using now. The Boundaries of the Village are : 7th Street on the West, the Range Lights on the East, Pine Street on the South and Lake Superior on the North. The Township will have the Expense of signage, estimate $3800. The mailing addresses will be the same as the 911 address - there will be no more HC-1 addresses. The possibility of relocating mail boxes to make it more efficient was mentioned and this will be looked into.
PARK COMMITTEE – George Hite – No Report
RECREATION COMMITTEE – Barb Sickler – New equipment was ordered and has arrived. It will be stored until spring and then installed.
SOLID WASTE COMMITTEE – Bruce Olson –The committee met on October 4, at the township Hall to discuss any problems with the Solid Waste operation. They will be checking for competitive hauling rates and for other places to take scrap metal and othe items that are not allowed at our Solid Waste Site. October 15th is the beginning of Winter Hours at the Solid Waste Site. It will be open from 10 to 12 on Saturdays only until May 15th.
VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT – Mike Radigan – No Report
WATER COMMITTEE – John Wakeman – The Water Committee met on Saturday, September 22, 2001 at the Township Hall. There were some resident water agreements that had not been signed and each committee member was assigned certain agreements to get signatures.
WATER SYSTEM OPERATOR – Rick Finke – Eagle Harbor Water has tested Clean and good to drink.
WELLHEAD PROTECTION – Rick Finke – No Report
